Converting table to bed

I have a 2018 Forest River Sunseeker.

It has a table that converts to bed. After converting mine, it looks really quite small to fit anyone, say over 5 feet 2 inches comfortably.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the bed on this kind of RV really quite small?
  • Is there a couch opposite the table? Ours pulls out to make a bes all the way across (with lots of seams).
  • If it's the dinette table and that's all the space you have when you lower the table, then that's all it's gonna convert to... Really only good for small kids.. Good luck! Mitch
  • Many years ago, I modified my table/bed area. When I did, I made a bench on each side of the table. The cushions fit on the back of each bench, and the bottoms. When the table is lowered, it fit on notches that made the bed flat, and the cushions moved to fit all the way from bench back to bench back. It would sleep a person over six foot tall. (two if they were friendly.)
  • It depends on the RV and how big the dinette is. Mine is right around 6' long when converted to bed mode. If the distance between the backs of the opposing dinette seats (with the cushion removed) is 5'2" or whatever, then that pretty much is how long the bed is going to be. Obviously the space there depends a great deal on the exact interior layout of the particular RV.

It is very much true that on many RVs some of the sleeping positions are only really suitable for children or fairly short adults.
  • For most dinette beds, if you just look at the size of the cushions laying flat, that's the size of the bed. If you have the space, you could make a platform to extend the bed and make or purchase a cushion to sit on top of the platform.
  • No, you need a bed stretcher.
Left handed model if it’s a drivers side dinette. Right handed it opposite.
  • You don't say what model Sunseeker but looking at the 2018 Sunseeker brochure there are U shaped dinettes of 41 x 76 or in one case a U shaped one of 44 x 82, while the straight dinettes are 42 x 68, so you possibly may not be doing the conversion to a bed properly. Dunno.
