Generator Usage in Parking Lots/Public Streets

It's not considered polite RV'ing to use the generator in a parking lot,like the big Box stores, most people use the parking lot to catch a few hours sleep while traveling, It's NOT a campsite.
As far as on a public street, I believe you'd run into more problems just parking on a street, a running generator of any kind will draw the attention, and many places have ordinances against over night parking, even in parking lots, like WalMart
