Hitch Weight (down pressure on Motorhome Hitch)

I have a Gulf Stream Friendship Diesel pusher on a Spartan chase 38 ft.

Need to know how much weight I can carry on the back of the motor home
With braced up hitch, I am carrying 500 Lb Harley Davison now and would like to put 680/700 lb. low rider.

Thanks

Generally, 500 pounds is the maximum tongue weight. Keep in mind all the weight is carried by the bolts holding the hitch receiver to the vehicle. Why not just invest in a small trailer. If you get a small tilt bed, I have a 5X10, you can move it around by hand when you unhook it.
  • What does your owners manual (chassis) say. We have looked at some diesel pushers that have freightliner chassis, some 1500lb tongue and 15000 tow rating, while other similar sized coach only had a 500lb tongue and 5000 tow rating.

  • After I replied, I got to thinking. (Now my head hurts.) Since you have a large chassis vehicle, get a dual arm lift for cargo. I saw one years ago that operated like a Tommy Lift. It had a flat platform with two hydraulic arms that would raise and lower the platform. It was hauling a full dress Goldwing. Those weigh around 800-900 pounds.
  • I pull a car,But I also have added two 2 in. bars on each side about two feet out on each side
  • dual arm lift for cargo.I have looked at those,,But thay weight up to 300 pound
Iam not looking how to carry,But how much the coach can carry
  • The coach literature from the manufacturer is the only source for a definitive answer.

I agree and I don't see how this question can be answered by us since we don't have the coach or even know what brand/kind of hitch we are talking about.

Is the car four down or on a dolly? There are dollies designed to carry a motorcycle and a car.
