There is a check valve in the water line between the tank and the hose connection. This prevents anything from back feeding into the hose. You also need to blow that line out if you winterize. That valve will freeze and break if you don't. Then next time you use you will have a flooded camper. I have not found a way to get pink stuff in that line as pressure has to push it past and through that valve.
