Thanks everyone. It sounds like it is safe to travel with only two hoses: a dedicated freshwater hose (white) and a general purpose hose for spraying off which can also be used to backflush (green).
In case it helps any other newbies, what I did this time is connect a Y at the spigot, attached the pressure regulator to one outlet of the Y and then the white freshwater hose. On the other Y outlet, I just connected a green hose and sprayer for general wash up and camp cleanup.
At the end of the trip, I just connected the green hose to the backflush valve after dumping.
Everything seemed to work fine. It was nice to have wash up ability outside this time.
