Hoses for dedicated back flush of black tank

My TT has an exterior inlet to connect a hose to back flush the black tank. I normally carry a white fresh water hose and a green general purpose hose (for spraying off feet, etc.). Is it ok to use that general purpose green hose for the back flushing the black tank or must I use a dedicated hose for backflushing?

We have a dedicated built in vented compartment for our sewer hoses/attachments in our HitchHiker. They really put a lot of thought into the design of this 5th wheel.

My sewer hoses go in my back bumper and I have a sealed container for the other sewer hose parts like elbows and connectors.

My water hoses go into the storage compartment closest to the back of the TT and I connect both ends of the hoses together when I coil them up for storage.

I use an older white fresh water hose for my black tank flusher. When I replaced my fresh water hose.....I coiled up the old one and used black spray paint to put stripes on the old one....no mistaking one for the other.

Thanks, Dakzuki. Yes, I store all my sewer related items (connectors, everything) in the rear storage compartment and everything else in the front storage. I do NOT want ANY cross-contamination!

On ours we have the "outside shower" that is really a coiled hose with a quick connect on one end and the regular garden connector on the other. I run that to the black flush and let it go. That way I can run some warm or cold water through it. That hose will never be drank from and it seems to work out well for us.

Thanks everyone. It sounds like it is safe to travel with only two hoses: a dedicated freshwater hose (white) and a general purpose hose for spraying off which can also be used to backflush (green).

In case it helps any other newbies, what I did this time is connect a Y at the spigot, attached the pressure regulator to one outlet of the Y and then the white freshwater hose. On the other Y outlet, I just connected a green hose and sprayer for general wash up and camp cleanup.

At the end of the trip, I just connected the green hose to the backflush valve after dumping.

Everything seemed to work fine. It was nice to have wash up ability outside this time.

I carry a few white hoses for fresh water or drinking water and a couple of general purpose hoses that I sue for the black tank flush or other uses that aren't drinking or fresh water related.

We have a dedicated hose, black in color for the black tank flush. That way, we cannot mistake it for anything else. We are full timers though so we use that hose all the time.

There is a check valve in the water line between the tank and the hose connection. This prevents anything from back feeding into the hose. You also need to blow that line out if you winterize. That valve will freeze and break if you don't. Then next time you use you will have a flooded camper. I have not found a way to get pink stuff in that line as pressure has to push it past and through that valve.

I don't see why you couldn't use the green hose, my black tank hose is blue making it simple to distinguish from our pair of white freshwater hoses.

There is a back flow prevented in the line. I also have two hoses hooked to the spigot at a campground, one for drinking and one for whatever, just don't leave it hooked to the tank flush. Someone will eventually turn it on.
