Yes the a/c needs to stay on high. We have had that problem years ago. The fan keeps everything from frosting up. The first time that occurred to us I shut it off and after a few mins the water started running off the roof pretty fast as it was hot outside. After that episode I just leave it on high.
We don't dry camp so water is not an issue to us. As far as the black tank we do a two flush for solids too just to keep a lot of water in the tank. Never had a problem with the black tank doing that.
