Kitchen slide tips out at the top with a right turn.

Title just about says it all. Very surprised to see in my mirror the top of the slide tip out about 3" and then seat itself as I straightened out. We were still on the entrance ramp to the expressway and there was plenty of shoulder to park on. Ran the slides out and back in, could not see any problems with it closing. Instead of taking it to storage yard I went to dealership instead. I explained the situation and was told there is nothing securing the slides at the top. He explained a brace can be added to the top, my expense, to keep it from tipping out during travel. I mentioned that's one way to solve the issue, but it doesn't really fix the problem. Why did this happen now, its been fine for 2 1/2 years? Just happens with age & travel? Have I just missed this and its been happening when I haven't been looking in the mirror? Comments and your experiences please.

Check the slide-out connection point at the floor as it slides out/in...I found out my bedroom slide was coming apart at the floor because the bed wasn't supported by anything when it was in, and bouncing down the road caused the screws to rip out from the wall...they were only 3/4 in long going vertically through a piece of 3/8 plywood into the wall...I had to remove the bed and all the related parts to get to it for the repair...I put a 2x2 at the inside junction, 2 1/2 in screws through the plywood into the 2x2s then new 1 1/2 in screws horizontally through the outside wall into the 2x2...last thing I did while reassembling was to put wheels supporting the bed while the slide is in, and let's it roll as it goes out...no more problems.

The mechanical part of the slides are at the bottom, that is where the box is attached, check that the anchor points of the slides are tight and the fiberglass portion are tight and secure, if they are then get the anchor bars to prevent any more movement.

Something like this: SlideOut Lock Bar

I got what Thor calls a slide lock with my ACE 27.1. I was told not really needed. But, after reading about the slide rails failing and slides becoming misaligned, I decided to use the slide lock. It looks like a mini "cargo bar" found in back of pickups to prevent things from sliding around. Since, I only have one, I am thinking about going to get at least one more possibly 2, since my slider is a full wall. I think it does work and prevents such things as you describe from happening.

Hi, Tom. Welcome to the forum.

That sounds like a scary experience. What kind of coach do you have?
