LED bulbs

Does anyone have or know where I can get a chart listing 12 volt automotive bulbs, both LED and traditional incandescent, showing Lumens output and amp usage for each? That would enable me to know what to expect from my battery when boondocking. Thanks ..Arnie..

There are charts for incandescent as already posted.

The LED market is still the wild west and there are no standards in general use. You can get LED replacements that vary between 80lm and over 500lm so obviously the power usage will also vary greatly.

I found a factor of 7 reduction in power used from the batteries.
If you use low cost LEDs when on shore power or generator, where the voltage is higher, beware they use a lot more power - and get hot.

For what it's worth... I replaced 30 halogen G4 ceiling bulbs with LEDs with 10-12 5050 chips. Went from 32 amps to 4 amps. Tell us what style bulbs you have and we can probably recommend a LED replacement.
I have the all to popular super HOT recessed puck lights. Too many but would like to replace them with LED also. Just not sure where to look and purchase. Larry

That's exactly what I had with G4 halogen bulbs in them. I replaced them with warm white LED units with 5050 chips on them and side by side you can't tell the difference between the LEDs and halogen as far as color and light output. I have some others in under-cabinet lights which are a bit whiter than the LEDs.

I now have LEDs everywhere including the porch light. There is a porch light LED "bulb" available that can be adjusted for direction.

Over the last three years I've tried various G4 led in my ceiling puck lights. I'm currently waiting for these to be made in warm white which I like better than bright white. Without the cut out with 15 led the bulb ends up off center in the puck which is noticeable in the ceiling lights, but not under a cabinet. You have to shorten the pins and if you cut them off at an opposing angle it helps in putting them in. I would probably start by buying these for $1.10 each and two of the above to compare the color and brightness.

I have replaced all my interior light bulbs with LEDs. I bought them all on EBay.

There is a big difference between LED vendors in quality, color and brightness. I also found the specified brightness in lumens cannot be trusted. I recommend you find what you think may be what you want and then buy 1 or 2 and try them.

I bought many of my LEDs from this vendor. I have been very satisfied with what I have received from him.

Here is a good reference for incandescent bulbs.

Good luck.:)

I must say that I have been replacing my incandescent bulbs over the winter, getting them on sale and from amazon, and I really love them now.
Not only the true color of the light, and the low amp draw , but I know that they will last really long and they do not give off much heat. So much safer in the top bunk and at the dinette

Arnie,
I've found a good rule of thumb is that LED's without voltage regulation draw 20% of an what an incandescent of the same output draws. It isn't apple=apple or orange=orange because LED's are available in different color temperatures and that gets into perception of output by the viewer.
