Hey there!
I've bought an RV last week, it's my first RV ever, so I'm really excited ๐Ÿ™‚
Currently, I'm choosing a generator for my new RV from this list. I think about the Honda generator and I'm open to your advice!
Thanks.

So you push your views off on other people, even though are doing things within the prescribed bounds, and if they don't accept your views for themselves, then you "label" them.
So who made you the police of all things civil and uncivil Karen?

It's really not that complicated. The idea of treating others they way you want to be treated goes back to biblical times, long before trendy "Karen vernacular came about.
My view is I don't want to hear your genset plain and simple. When we get down to ME attitude I want you to extend the same courtesy to ME.
If you are going to be camping around ME I want you to use a quiet inverter genset. Because then YOU will be doing all you can not to disturb ME. I will do the same.
If you are using a non inverter, loud open frame genset you are not even trying not to disturb ME. With a loud non inverter genset you are using a cheaper genset that is not suited for camping around others.
You are choosing to take the savings at my expense.
The money you save is at the expense MY peace and quiet.
The true silence purist have ditched their gensets altogether and are using batteries with inverters and solar charging to achieve zero noise.
They have made large investments in their equipment in an effort not to disturb anyone with generator noise.
They did it not because it was legally mandated, although one day it maybe.
They did it because they want to enjoy nature and their camping experience in its purist form with out any man made background noise.

If you truly want to be a ME only guy. I suggest you buy yourself a large plot of land that you can control and be as loud as you want.
However if you are camping on public land or land that you don't own or control, I suggest you consider how your actions impact those around you.
Refer back to the golden rule and treat others the way you wish to be treated and everyone can have an enjoyable experience

It seems we agree it's all about you.
You are absolutely correct, It's about me, my money, my choices; what the neighbor thinks doesn't matter.

Remember when your neighbor had a problem with the TT parked in your yard? You got a visit from the ordinance enforcement officer. But in this case, you were all legal.
Did you move the TT because the neighbor didnโ€™t like it?
No, because you did nothing wrong.
Same thing here, Iโ€™m doing nothing wrong.

Reminder for Lantley

Your back to the white truck scenario.
My RV in the yard doesn't impact anyone else. My neighbor suspected I was violating some zoning law, however I was not and the matter was settled. I never had any discussion with the neighbor.
However if I want to prune some trees I don't think it would be very courteous or wise to fire up a gas powered chain saw at 5:00 A.M Sunday morning or mow between houses at 6:00 AM. Saturday morning. I don't need a law to understand waking up my neighbors is wrong, even if its legal.
I was at a CG in VA Beach when someone decided to Rev their Harley Repeatedly at dinner time. This was a very family CG and the engine revving as loud and annoying. The CG eventually made him turn the bike off. I doubt the CG had a No Harley Revving rule, However that did not make it OK to disturb the peace with his Harley.
It's not about legality, it's about civility.
Unfortunately in a civilized society we simply don't get to do whatever we want, whenever we want, especially if the behavior impacts others around you.
Since you have a "me only" mindset what I am saying means nothing to you. I understand the law and do my best to obey them however I do not let laws alone determine what is right or wrong for me.

I have a Yamaha 3000. I can hear it from 300 feet when it is in eco mode and running a heavy load. An open frame is always going to be a heck of a lot louder.
Another reason I wouldn't spend twice as much for a "quiet" generator if I can still hear it at 300 feet in echo mode.

The issue is not if you can hear it or tolerate it.
The issue is the peace and quiet of those around you. Unless you are totally alone with no one around you, someone will be tolerating the generator noise vs. enjoying peace and quiet.
If it were only about the end user any generator would be acceptable!
I would disagree with that assessment also. White trucks may not be acceptable to me. That doesn't mean I get to tell you you can't have a white truck. As long as I am operating within the rules and regulations set down, I'm good. So the question is, what do the rules say, and does my generator comply with the rules? If not I leave. If so, I'm good.

The color of your truck does not impact anyone one else. However the noise from your genset can and does impact others.
There is legality and then there is common courtesy.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
There may be no law against playing my stereo loud enough to impact others, however that doesn't mean its OK for me to blare my music throughout the CG.
Common courtesy along with common sense have left the building.
They have been replaced by "All that matters is me"
Actually, your right. If your not pitching in to help buy the generator and i'm not breaking any rules your opinion means nothing to me.

We have a Yamaha 3000 watt inverter generator and love it. It runs our 15,000 btu air conditioner just fine. We'll turn the AC off when my wife wants to use her 1800w hair dryer, otherwise, it handles everything else just fine. It also has a long runtime on a fill of the gas tank.

I have been tolerant of many generators and would have enjoyed the camping far more if they did not run all day. Just because there are no direct complaints does not mean all are happy with the noise.
