We are going to the National Quartet Conv. in Pigeon Forge, Tn in Sept. We've never camped there, do you have a favorite? We prefer the state or national park setting. I know Great Smokey Mtn park is full of a lot of campgrounds. Any suggestions?

Unless you have booked a site for Elkmont or Cades Cove last spring, I wouldn't count on a spot there this time of year.

Pine Mtn RV Park is good and in a good location. AKA Red light access to the parkway. Also might try Bear Cove RV Park good location and close to Dollywood.

Avoid this KOA.

You might be best off just staying in a campground close to the LeConte Center, there are several on Wears Valley and surrounding areas. Up The Creek might be worth checking out, it would give you a short drive to the convention.

The national park is great but if you've never been there let me warn you about traffic. Even though the distance between Pigeon Forge and the Elkmont campground in GSMNP isn't very far, it may take two hours when traffic is heavy.

I would suggest something in the Townsend area.

right in pigeon forge but just far enough out to feel away from the traffic and congestion. Nice sights, park like setting.

It all depends on how close to your venue you wish to be. Smokemont campground in The National park is really nice. It is also the most popular so you may want to try and get a reservation. With traffic concerns and distance from park to Pigeon Forge it could take you upwards of 30 minutes to get to your venue. There are numerous private campgrounds in town, just do a search. They are well kept and will suit your needs but nowhere near the setting as the GSMNP will be. There are lots of things to do and see and loads of great restaurants here. enjoy your stay here.
