Question about purchasing a new water pump

Apparently our water pump has decided to bite the dust. What I need to know is how do I decide model I need to purchase. The manual for our rig says it's a Shurflo but does not give a model number. Are they all pretty much the same?
  • They suggested the Shurflo 4008. So that's what I bought. Figured they were being honest because it wasn't the most expensive pump that they had. Amazing how it has increased the water pressure. New tires put on today so we're ready to rumble. Happy Camper.

Thanks for your help! I made a trip to Jack's Campers in Mitchell SD today and was able to get a new pump and filter. (If you're ever in SD and need repairs they are great) My husband just installed it and we have water! Just happy that the pump died in our own yard rather than at a campground!

    Which pump did you get?

Glad to hear that Jack's Campers is still giving good customer service

We had to have a landing gear replaced on our 5vr. We were full timing and unable to unhook 5vr.
Contacted Jack's while we were leaving CG in Albert Lea, MN heading to Mitchell.
They took us in early next morning and replaced it while we waited.
    Good folks!

  • Remove the pump and read the model # off the pump...

Before you do though - make sure it's the pump and not a loose wire, bad connection and blown fuse.
  • If pump model is a Shurflo Classic #2088 or an Extreme Series 4900/5900 those pump models have been discontinued.

Shurflo Revolution 4008 or High FLow 4048 are good replacements

    4008.....3 gpm/55 psi-----$56
    4048.....4 gpm/55 psi----$150
  • There is a model # in large print on the pump label. I was looking at mine five minutes ago. XXXX-XXX-XXX

Yes there are differences. Some put out more pressure but less volume, some more volume but less pressure, some produce more of both but use more amperage. And sometimes the connections are different. Unless there's something you want to change, buy the same model or the replacement model.

If you existing pump doesn't have a little round filter on it, get one of them also.
