R-factor's

I cannot find in any literature the insulation R-factors on our Forest River Heritage Glen. Can anyone help me find that information?
  • Even single pane glass has an R-value, 0.9 to be exact. When estimating total R-values of walls in a structure, the square footage of the glass and square footage of the insulated wall are tallied to reach the total. The R-value of the wall is a total of all building materials in the wall, not an RV brochure's estimation of insulation.
  • Any R-factors you find for walls don't mean much if the walls are filled with windows. My walls are 2", 1 1/2 inches of foam for at least R-7, but all the heat loss is through single pane windows (which don't necessarily seal air flow either).
  • Taken from the brochure, on page 14:

R-14 FIBERGLASS INSULATION IN CEILING, FRONT CAP & REAR WALL

That's the only reference to insulation, so I would imagine the rest of the 5th wheel is less than R-14.

  • i would go to Forest River Forums and ask your questions to other HG owners.
  • Styrofoam is around R 5 per inch of thickness.
