Refrigerator

Help,
I have a Norcold fridge in my camper trailer. It seems to work great for the first couple of days and then it dips below freezing and there is no getting it back. Even though I bump the thermostat to the warmest setting it hovers in the 20s. How do I better regulate it to keep everything from freezing?
Regards,

How old is it? Is it a 1200, N8 or N6 series? go to norcoldclassaction.com you may be able to make a claim. You have until the 26th to do it, you have nothing to lose and may get an extra 3 year extended warranty out of it. Something is not right with it obviously.
those are for defective cooling units. This is the opposite problem
No its not, you do not need to have experienced a problem to file a claim, just already own one. You stand to receive a 3 yr. extended warranty with a claim on file. Mine is working fine and I filed.
Agreed, but the OP's problem has nothing to do with the basis of the lawsuit, and that is cooling unit failure regardless of wether one can file.

Their "point" system makes no sense either
  • Anytime our RV fridge started to continuously freeze items in our fridge compartment replacing the thermistor remedied the issue. For us the problem seems to occur every 4-5 years, I just splice in a new thermistor and we're good to with operating temps in the fridge compartment back to normal.

  • All Norcold cooling units, so I was told by Norcold, defrost themselves every 46 hours. The temp in the freezer and refrigerator will rise and then start cooling down again after the defrost. This is not a freezer defrost, but just a temporary increase in the freezer temp as the cooling unit defrosts itself. My freezer will increase 8-9 degrees during this process and is completely normal operation.

I suggest you put a wireless temp sensor in your freezer and watch it without opening the door. I'll bet you are just seeing the 46 hour defrost cycle.

Sounds like you need a new thermistor ( like a thermostat) and that your frig is going into backup cooling mode which means it just runs every so often as there is no temp indication to tell it when to run. It's a cheap part and sure worth a try.

    Good call......^^^^^^^^

Check that thermistor (temp sensor in food compartment is still attached to cooling fin)
If not and hanging down it will cause overcooling

    What model Norcold?
