sewer hook ups

We are going to stay in a RV park in Colorado this fall. This will be our very first stay in a park. Our new camper came with a sewer hose. Im assuming all the conections are standard and it will fit. Would it be wise to get a longer one as I dont know how far I may need to go to hook up. Sorry for the stupid questions, but its our first time. Thanks for any help or pointers!!!

My Rhino fits in my 4" bumper with all fittings on, including the elbow. It is tight, but it never gets stuck in there. And for those worrying about the rust, just put the supplied caps on the ends of your hose (Rhino comes with them), so it won't leak.

My Dad taught me to always carry a spare sewer hose. The cheapy unit that came with the camper is good for that. I went with the Rhino as the primary sewer hose. The Rhino has four locking lugs, where the cheapo factory hose has two. If one of the lugs on the factory hose breaks off, you're done. He said to always look for a kit with four lugs. Turns out he was right about some other stuff, so this time, I actually listened.

Another valid option is to buy nothing!

Don't get me wrong- there's cheap hoses and nice hoses and cheap donuts and fancy screw in elbo's.

On our maiden voyage, we were "forced" to buy a foam donut for the massive price of 2 bucks....I did have a cheapo 20 ft hose that I used instead of the 10-ft freebie...

That kept us going for 10 years...5 years in I got the clear elbo and just last year got the Rhino...it's all nice, but you do have holding tanks that will take care of you for a day or two (or a week or two) until you can run out and get whatever extra do-hickie you think you just can't live without 🙂

Check out Sewer Solution. I've been using that system since '09 & have nothing but praise for it. No stinky slinky & everything fits in a gym bag.

Your hose is not going to wear out due to surface rust abrasion inside the bumper. Be sure to pick up a bag of disposable gloves from the supermarket. Camping next to the river sounds nice - will you have hookups there?

I was using a Rhino Flex but found it a little too rigid for putting out & storing. I switched to The Camco Revolution which works much more to my liking from a handling perspective. It stores nicely in my TT bumper.

Mine fit. Without the L shaped end on it of course. That part pops right off and I put it in a large freezer bag in storage compartment.

For mine (Rhino), the hose itself fits in the bumper, but the fittings/couplings will not. I've done as somebody else in this thread has already noted. I use clear plastic bins. One for sewer hose, fittings, and a green garden hose for the black tank flush. One for potable water hoses, filter, pressure regulator. One for electrical "stuff". The sewer hoses are capped at both ends and the potable water hoses have their ends screwed together so as to avoid any spilling of anything inside the bins. I keep the bins in the pass through storage area, or in the bed of the truck.

The Rhino is fine, but there are other "heavy duty" hoses that are fine too. They are sold in "mil" thickness and the thicker, the better, and price goes up too. You'll need to carry an elbow for the sewer end, and I would recommend a threaded adapter that will screw into the hole in the ground as some parks are set up this way. You should also carry the rubber "donut" for parks that do not have threads in the hole so you can get a good seal. I have a 10 year old blue "heavy duty" hose (don't recall the brand, maybe Camco) that I still use and it's still in great shape because I don't store it in my bumper and I don't drag it on the ground.

As other have said Rhino Flex...

But my 2 cents is the hose that came with the trailer I would get rid of it now
and buy some good Rhino. I have also seen first hand that supplied hose in most
cases is junk. The last thing you want is to have gray or black water all over
the camp ground.

You may need a few different sizes and angles connectors as indicated by the
users have pointed out.

A couple of other things. I have clear plastic trays with snap on lids. One for Rhinoflex sewer hoses, one for water hoses, both white and green, and one for electric extension cords. Also two halves of a concrete block tied together to hold the business end of the sewer hose in the hole where it belongs. You don't even want to think about what happens if your sewer connection pops out of the hole while you're dumping. Its never happened to me, but I've seen it happen. If your single hoses are a foot short of reaching the hookups, you might as well not have them at all.
One more thing. Disposable plastic gloves.
