The Maiden Voyage
I just need to share this!
I found this site almost a year ago and read it regularly. I even posted a question about buying a travel trailer. Thank you for the replies. So I bought my trailer and picked it up the day after I retired. The tech who did the walk-thru was great. I took my checklist and also a notepad and made lots of notes.
I finally took the trailer out on its maiden voyage/shakedown cruise down the freeway to San Diego. No problems and I even handled the dump station like a pro. (OK- I cheated. I had the directions on the Rhino box next to me.)
I am a solo traveler and was so relieved to know my tow vehicle towed (and stopped) the trailer great. I have a Coleman tent trailer, but I was not used to looking in my rear view mirror and not seeing the road behind me. Staring into a big beige piece of unmoving fiberglass is a little disconcerting, but I'll get used to it. I'll feel more comfortable with mirror extenders.
I'm already planning the next trip, mainly so I can take a picture of the trailer and post it.
Again, thank all of you who post questions and all of you who take the time to respond to the questions. You folks made my trip a success.
See you out there.
