Towing vehicle

Anyone have any suggestions on a type of vehicle to tow behind a 26 foot Class C Motorhome besides a Jeep?

I know a guy who knows a guy that flat-towed a Mini Cooper S behind a motorhome. Unfortunately, one time he forgot to take the manual transmission out of reverse and didn't realize it until he was about a half mile down the road. Apparently, due to the reverse gear ratio, it spun the engine the wrong direction at about 12,000 rpms. It ruined the supercharger because, when the internals of the engine exploded, it tried to puke all the metal shrapnel bits through the air cleaner. The guy I know was the one putting a new engine in the Mini after that fiasco.

If you go the motorhome route, Motorhome magazine has a full list of towable vehicles on their sites.
Just look up "Dinghy guides" and the year of the vehicle your looking for.
As was mentioned before with the Suzi's, manual tranny units are most common but many automatics can be used. If you want to take along a toy, ATV dirt bike etc, Some pickups, including compact trucks are on the list.

Suzuki Samuri, SideKick, or a Grand Vitara all can be flat towed by simply pitting the transfer case in neutral.

Look for anything light and can be towed 4-down. Dollies are a real PITA, but then, they might be less expensive than setting up to tow flat.
