Winter camping near north jersey

Hello everyone, I am already winterized for this season but I have the urge for one more weekend trip this year. I am looking for a place within one hour drive of North Jersey. My only requirement is that it has bathrooms with showers that are open in the winter, because I do not intend to turn on my trailers water. Electric would be nice but not mandatory as I have decent battery storage and basic solar panel set up. I know there are a few places near Jackson but not familiar with any for the winter. I have also heard that Swartswood is open for limited use in winter . Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Pennsylvania along route 80 close to the Jersey border is an option, as well as New York as long as within one hour of the New Jersey border. Thank you.
  • Thanks to everyone... Not sure we're gonna be going his winter... Wife was just complaining last nite that it was only 65 degrees in our house and she was cold. I very well may go for a weekend by myself with my mountain bike, a good book, and lots of warm clothes for a little downtime
  • To the OP--we recently sold our beloved PUP. We bought a HTT (that we use as a TT since we dont need the external bedding anymore, the big dinette makes our bed and the couch serves as seating and dining area)
Anyway, we kept the porta-potty that we used in the PUP. Reason I mention this is because now we "can" use our "winterized" HTT by using the porta-potty at night, and CG facilities other times. We can bring in water for other uses (dishes, ETC). Never have to "de-winterize" until spring, and camp all year long.
  • If you are close to the delaware gap, I am pretty sure that otter lake in Marshalls creek is open all year but with no water. You have to bring your own. Not sure if any of the bath houses are open. Maybe the one at the indoor pool. Check them out.
  • I live in Northern NJ right off of Rt 80, a bit East of the PA border. All of my local haunts shut down after Halloween.

I second Promised Land State Park. I'm not sure which campgrounds, if any, are still open this time of year. There are several. We stay at Pickerel Point and it's really nice.
  • Thank you , I really want to try it. So far wife and kids say no , so I may try a solo trip and bring my mountain bike
