Not sure where to post this, so I'm putting it here.
Just returned from a 10 day jaunt through Ohio, Pennsylvania and into New York, before returning home. Our trek took us through Kentucky as well as Indiana and Illinois. Although we did not camp in all these states. We found that Ohio & Kentucky offer free camping to 100% disabled veterans.
My DW always asks if discounts are available for AARP, Golden Age Passport (Geezer card), Vets, seniors and anything else there might be. To our surprise both Ohio & Kentucky state parks offered free camping to 100% disabled vets. Asked to see your letter of authorization and said have a nice stay. Makes you feel good.
Not a bragging post as "Look what I got", but rather something I thought I should share.

I looked their site over and could not find such a list. Also did a google search and didn't find much worth while. Have I been phrasing it wrong?

Was told recently by the local Tennessee VA Officer that I would need to go directly to the states campground and apply there!

I was shocked to receive anything, being out of state. Most states that offer discounts to vets require they be state residents. I would like to build a database of some sort with all this info, but unfortunately our limited travel would take a lifetime to accomplish. Not to mention my database knowledge is...er...should I say, I'm lucky to be able to spell database.

sdianel: been to a couple of famcamps and they are really nice. A bit to much like RV parks, rather than camping, but still really nice.

It's good to hear that at least some states offer free camping to 100% disabled veterans.

I think all federal facilities, be it parks, campgrounds, etc. should all be FREE to 100% disabled VETERANS and at least half price to all other VETERANS.

Thanks for the info! We should create a list of all the states that offer that. Florida provides 50% discount only for Florida citizens over 65 or who are disabled.
Also 100% disabled veterans are eligible to camp at military famcamps. www.militarycampgrounds.us Thank you for your service!

Welcome home brothers. I have become disabled in the last few years but not due to my military service. I am glad they are offering our brothers and sisters this.

Good for you. Greatly deserved as far as we are concerned, though it is a shame you are disabled. Thank you for your service, and putting your life on the line for our Country and its citizens.
Safe travels and good fortune to you and your wife.
