1000 Islands, NY

Have any of you worked at or stayed at 1000 Islands KOA in New York? If so, please tell us your experience or opinions. Thank you.
  • I think if you get this moved to the RV Parks forum instead of the Workamping forum, and rename it to "Association Island", you'll probably get more replies. It's only been a KOA for a couple of years and many might not know it by that name.

I've been meaning to get there for many years, it just never works out. I've heard good and bad. A lot of bugs depending on what time of year.

Thanks , and yes we've heard about the swarms of midge flies. Not too crazy about dealing with them. We've been offered a job there.
  • If it is the same as Association Island that's where I went in 2012. We went with our son who was 6 and daughter who was 3. We had a great time. There was not much to do there at the resort but we did some day trips and went up by the border. Small pool, but if you boat or kayak its a great place. VERY buggy. We were there and a quick storm came in with crazy winds. There were about three MILIION big flies hiding on the alee side of our camper under the awning.
It was not a KOA when we went but very friendly people. I would go again but very buggy.

Thanks, the bug issue is the thing that will probably stop me from going. I've done more research and the bugs are mentioned many times.
