If your coach has air brakes, the SMI Air Force One is a good choice. Used mine for 8 years. If no air brakes on coach, look at the SMI Stay n Play. Friend of mine just installed that one on his 2014 CRV so he can tow it with either his coach with air brakes or another vehicle he has without air brakes.

Joe & Carol,

Probably your best bet for a permanent type braking system is the Air Force One. Check M&G as well but I'm not sure whether or not they make one that would fit the CRV.

If you decide you want a portable unit, the RVi 2 is a really good, easy to install and use unit.

We tow a 2014 CRV (auto trans) and it works great. We use an SMI Braking system since it is th only one for a gas coach that requires both brake pedal action and momentum change to activate. It is very easy to use. We had it professionally installed when we installed our Blue Ox baseplate.

We also have a 2014 CR-V. If you need to get any wires from the engine compartment to the inside I found out it is easier to go thru a rubber grommet in the door jam then going thru the fire wall.
Good Luck

I believe the new 15's you cannot tow because of the cvt transmission.
We just bought a 14 instead of a 15 for that reason.

We did the same thing, have had the 2014 CRV for maybe 4 months now, no problem in towing 4 down. Ours is AWD and auto. look in the owner's manual for instruction for towing. Page 236 I think it is.

I too, have the 2014 CR-V, and like williamp321, use the same system as he does. We have towed around 3500 miles and no problems. Read info on each manufacturer and go with your gut feeling. For me, "simply" works best. I can hook up or unhook in less than 10 minutes.

I bought a 2014 Honda CR-V EXL in Dec and I also got a new Patorit from Blue Ox . I really like it. It does what I wanted it to do. It also has a sensor to put up in the motor home and tell you when the brake pedal is working. I towed mine around 2000 mile since I got it with out a problem. If u get one make sure you set it up with the engine off.
