2014 Ford focus titanium

Hi again,
Saw the 2014 focus titanium and liked it. The 2014 Dinghy list from Motorhome magazine has a different requirement for towing IE doesn't mention disconnecting the battery cable...... but it refers you to the owners manual. Does the manual say to disconnect the cable?

    Hi TimfmCT,

Sorry for the late reply. No, I used to have a Camping trailer or 5 yrs and then a Class "C " for 5 years. When we moved to a new house the HOA would not allow me to park it on my own driveway. So I sold it. Now that we live in the sticks ,I was able to convinced the boss to get a Class "A".I considered the 4 wheel towing but I decided to opt on a dolly($$$).My focus was also my daily work transportation (120 Miles a day RT/5 days a week ).2012Hurricane,30Q/2012 ford Focus SE.

    Hi,
Glad to hear you were able to get back on the road. Isn't it great?
I'm interested enough to ask. Are you using the dolly because the Focus may be damaged towing it 4 wheels down? It's interesting how some say the Focus is a great toad yet others report that towing it damages the tranny.
We are/were interested in the Focus (2014 maybe) but consumers reports gave it a terrible rating for predicted reliability. For us that may have eliminated our best choice for a car with auto transmission to tow 4 wheels down.
I think we'll test drive a Ford Fusion hybrid. It seems like it would be great as our main vehicle and a toad when we travel south.
Problem is that it may be too big.We are not used to driving 4 door sedans. The weight is ok though. We're not spring chickens and our two door 1999 Acura isn't good for us to double date.:) Maybe, I'll ask the group about the fusion hybrid.
    So, enjoy your travels.

Ps, is your name Orlo? I never know how to address screen names sometimes.
  • We HAD a 2012 auto. This IS a cool car. Drives great decent mileage pretty good car for the price. However!! we were upon our second transmission repair first repaired by Ford and we had received an extended warranty until 2015 by Ford for the tranny. The tranny was due another trip to the shop. Not why we bought this auto:M While we really enjoyed this car I would not recommend it for towing it four down. Just a personnel experience. Your experience may vary. There are other NON Problem cars out there. Your choice and your money. Larry

  • I have the titanium, radio does not need reset.Follow instructions in manual.Pop the hood, lock door with remote,I remove the positive terminal. Use a short wrench so don't short out any thing. If the battery is shorted it can explode. Then I place the wire in a glove and shove in down beside the battery. You will have to use the key on the end of the fob to unlock the car.I like the car tows great.
  • There was someone else on here with a Titanium model and I believe he said he did not have to reset the clock and radio.
I have a non Titanium model and disconnecting the battery and resetting the clock is no problem and takes little time compared to what needs to be done to other toads. The 70 MPH speed is also nice and no stopping to run the car every so many hours.

    Hi all,

I have a 2012Ford Focus Automatic that I towed behind my H on a "ACME Tow Dolly ". No problem so far.

    Hello,
I see you just joined the group today. Does that mean you are new to the RVing world? I respectfully ask because using a dolly is very different than towing 4 wheels down and really would not apply.
    BTW what is your H?

Recreational Towing section starts on page 203.

Thanks for the info. We really like the Focus titanium automatic but do not want hassle of disconnecting battery and then having to reset the clock and radio stations etc.
However, I called Ford. They said if the car has the sync my ford touch option, all the info stays in memory.
Is the true?? That would make a difference to us.
