2014 wrangler unlimited toad question

Just traded my wife's 2009 rubicon 6 speed for a 2014 wrangler unlimited with automatic and I have a few questions. First off, does anyone know if the 2014 unlimited is equipped with a steering lock. The 2009 didn't have one and the owner manual for the 2014 states that it MAY be equipped with one. Also, I removed the cool tech plug and play wiring harness and plan on reinstalling it in the 2014, should this be the same? Final question, what's your opinion on aftermarket extended warranties? The dealer offered me a 7yr/100,000 mile warranty with $0 deductible for $1100 if I purchase within the first 30 days. The recommended this warranty over the Mopar warranty. The brochure says it is called First Extended by Resource Automotive.
Thank you in advanced.
  • I'm sure the '14 JK doesn't have a steering lock, but I'd just go out and crank the steering wheel lock to lock with the engine off to be sure.

According to the CooltechLLC.com website, the wiring harness is good to go through the 2015 model.

I personally don't believe in extended warranties. Why do they try and sell them so hard? I figure it's a big money maker for the warranty seller, and I believe most folks get no benefit. JMHO.
  • My 2014 Wrangler Sport does not have steering lock. The wiring should be the same. Extended warranties ... not for me.
  • I have to get outside and try the steering lock. I've been layed up after Achilles' tendon surgery.
  • My friend helped me install the baseplate and cool tech wiring harness today. Everything went good and I checked the steering wheel to find that it doesn't have a lock so that's a good thing.
