2016 ram 1500 toad

Hello. Wondering if anyone is flat towing one of these. If so I’m looking for the weight (I will get it weighed when I’m out and happen to see a scale). Until then just wondering if you are towing it and what are you towing it with?
Mine is a 1/2 ton Big Horn Hemi, not stripped, but not loaded. I’m guessing around 5200 lbs empty.
  • Are you going to flat tow the ram behind a motorhome??? I may need to flat tow or use a car carrier for my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 behind a 2019 Ram 1500 V8 if that is even possible. May be too heavy for a UHaul car carrier according to their website.

Look on your door frame for the weight

Nope, not on the door frame. Only the GVWR.

That is the idea. I know I will have to replace the 5k lb hitch with a 7500lb hitch. The MH when loaded for a trip has the capacity to tow more than 5k lbs because I’m 1500lbs under the GCWR.
  • I see quite a few half tons being towed by MHs. Tahoes too.

If you're towing with the "12 Forest River Georgetown 350TS" in your profile, you'll be pretty close to maxing it out with your 5200 lb toad. If you had to put it on a 2000 lb car carrier (like if it's a 2WD and not flat towable), then you'd be way overweight.

The GCWR for that chassis is 26,000 lbs, so if you're 1500 lbs under the 22,000 lb GVWR, that only leaves 5500 lbs of tow weight.

Sounds pretty sketchy. I once towed a little Focus behind a Chev 2500HD and had a couple of white knuckle moments stopping in the rain. You could do a fancy tow bar setup with a braking system but for the same money or less you could just buy a flatbed car hauler. Sounds like you're doing a one time move? Might be cheaper just to have it shipped.
