30A or 50A Choice

One reason I was interested in this post, was that I had just inquired about a camp site. I asked if I could have a 50 amp site, my T/T is 30amp. I was told I could only have a 30amp site for my 30 amp T/T.

But some of us were sitting here all day trying to provide helpful answers.

I intended the question to address a 30A, or a 50A RV. - I personally find this discussion amusing.
In the early 70's, I worked for a company called Thetford. (Have you heard of them?) This was the time when the GMC coaches were being introduced. They were all built as 50A. (Nema 14-50 plug, but most have a dual 40A main breaker.) The talk in the business was that the RV world would soon all be 50A. In the later production, they were all built with 2 roof ACs, electric hot water, a microwave (without any gas oven at all) and electric refrigeration. That was all the talk.
That was all of 45years ago. The newest of these turned 40 this year.
We like to have at least 15amp (two parallel blades is 15, one blade the other way is 20) so I don't have to worry about the battery overnight. If we are both running computers, this can be a problem.
But, we in a private campground because DW wanted a bigger shower to wash her hair, and the neighbor that arrived with a 40+ coach and went on a 50amp post and then ran an extension cord to the 15amp duplex to run something in the coach.
Good to see that the campgrounds have kept up with the technology.

Well, dang! I guess I been doing it wrong all these years!
Our coach (see sig.) is 30 amp. We run both air conditioners quite frequently, especially at home when company is coming. In fact, we run both A/Cs using a 50 foot 30 amp extension cord (OMG!!). We even run the microwave while the A/Cs are running. However, we can not run the microwave and the electric water heater element at the same time, we must select one or the other.

Kinda funny but that’s how these threads morph.- 28' Class C with one AC. Came with a 30 Amp power cord. Have been to all parts of the US and most of Canada. I carry all of the adapters and have never missed having a 50 Amp power cord. It's not a big deal to turn off the AC for a few minutes to run the Microwave. Most of our camping in the south has been exploring the country and we spend most of out days exploring the area and are not in the MH during most of the days. Just our camping style.
