30amp power cord

I was wondering if anybody that has an RV wired for 50amp service carries a 30amp cord for when they know they will be at a campsite that only supports 30amps. It seems like it would be better than having to use the large 50amp cord. I guess I also need to know if you can even buy a 30 amp cord that will plug into an RV designed for 50 amps. (Is the connector the same?)

Thanks

Why get out the heavy 50 amp cord if you only have 30 amp worth of power available?
Adapters do not eliminate the heavy cord from the equation. The OP's goal is to use the lighter cord when possible. The lighter 30 amp cord is available

why is this "fact" so difficult for some to grasp?

If I were, I would. And yes, such an adapter is available. You may not find everything in your RV powered.

With 30 amp service, I carry a 50-30 adapter in case I get into a site where only a 50 amp socket is available or it is the only socket working properly.

Some RV parks might have adaptors for rent, but I carry my own, they don't cost that much, don't weigh that much, and I can buy at the quality level I prefer.

50 amp unit- I have both 50ft cables as well aadapters. 30 amp has 50 plug, lighter than the 50 amp.

I needed an extra cord at a nice park in northwest PA. The trailer cord and the extra cord were stretched like a clothes line to reach.

I have both a 30A cord and a 30A adapter. But the thought of dragging that 30A cord around means it stays home 100percen of the time. I use it when the camper is in the driveway being loaded up for a trip. But it goes in the house garage before we leave.

you don't carry a spare additional cord?

I don't, never needed it. It could happen but hasn't so far in about 10 years of periodic travel. It certainly could, but not so far.

Nope. Never needed it as well.

we carry a 50==>30 amp dogbone adapter for use in parks that don't offer 50-amp service. I doubt you'll find an RV that is wired for 50-amps but will let you plug in a 30-amp cord. that's what the adapters are for.

Same....thanks.

The 30 amp to 50 amp cord does exist no adapters needed.
Yes it only delivers 30 amp but it connects to the standard 50 amp RV twist connection

No need to carry extra power chords.

If the pedastal has 30 amp but not 50 amp here is what we have.

yup, that's the one. takes up a lot less storage space than another cord.

Why bother with multiple cords just make the correct cable with 6/4 SO cable!
I carry 40' of 50 amp 6/4 cable in a three gallon bucket, not heavy, and can easily be coiled back into this bucket even below freezing.

The hand is for scale not holding the cable down, it is just resting on the cable. My 50 amp to 30 amp dog bone is also in the bucket :B
