5th wheel - Front Height Adjustment

My questions is:

In most instances is there always enough adjustment to get the 5th adjusted to be level when hitched, either by way of the hitch or the pinbox?

The tow vehicle is a 2014 Ram 3500 Crewcab 6.2 box (no factory prep package)

Factory 20 inch tires on Ram and 5th is a Cougar 30.2ft.

I have read that the Superglide has no adjustment in height, and I just don't see how the 5th is going to be level and still have 6 inches between the 56th and the truck side rails?

The Hijacker may have adjustment?

No Hitch has been chosen as of yet. I really need more info on this possible height issue, and maybe I am concerned about nothing?

I hope it does not become necessary to get smaller tires and rims, but this will be my first 5th so I am not sure. Your input would be appreciated.

Level the trailer while on the landing gear.

Measure from the overhang to the ground.

Now measure the height of your truck rails to the ground.

If the trailer distance is not more than 4 inches than the truck you will not be able to tow the trailer level regardless of the hitch system used.

If you have one of those trucks that have no squat when 2000 lbs is put on the hitch than the difference has to be 6 or more inches.

If you have a truck that squats more than 2 inches then the difference can be less by 1 inch for each inch over 2 inches.

The average for many trucks is a 2 inch squat.

A level trailer will handle better and the tire wear will be more even on the trailer.

On most 5th wheel pin boxes there are a series of bolt holes. I used these and were perfect for my height adjustment. Mine took 1 1/4 " wrenches, 20 minutes time.

well, since you dont have the factory prep, you could install under bed rails and use the superglide and this SHOULD make it lower than someone with factory prep that has to use a pic frame adapter (thereby raising the hitch 2 inches). Check out post here by Mopar_Mudder as he took measurements with pic frame adapter...most that go this route tend to be nose high with the superglide:

Common problem, with the newer trucks. Hopefully you can adjust pin box, and have a hitch with some adjustment. Even with adjustment, you still need to maintain 6"s of bed rail clearance.

If only a couple inches nose high, it may tow just fine. If not, about the only solution is to raise the trailer.
