Adjusting Freezer Door

We have a Norcold refrig/freezer combo. unit. Freezer on top. The door seems a bit lower on the right (handle) side. It tends to form frost on the inside in that area. I want to level the door but I'm not sure how. The right side needs raised just a bit. On the left (hinge) side are two screws but I think they just hold the hinge on. Perhaps removing the screw on the bottom and inserting a washer and then replacing the screw might help? Suggestions appreciated.
  • Yes, it was just a 1/4" inside diameter nylon washer that was about .2~.25" thick. I got it at our local H/W store in their Hillman hardware selection.
  • I was just thinking that very same thing. HaHa Where would a guy find something like that? Hardware store?
  • Good luck, maybe you'll be able to find a black one instead of the natural color!
  • Lift the door off by unscrewing the top hinge pin and put a washer or nylon spacer over the lower pin. This will space the door up enough to work right.
Had to do this on both doors of our new Norcold.

  • Most fridge door hanging issues I've seen relate back to the bushing that is on the hinge. I'd take that top hinge off and see what condition the plastic bushing is in.
