Aluminum Wheels

I was wondering if anyone new some short cuts to making your aluminum wheels shine. I have used Mothers aluminum polish but it requires much elbow grease. The arthritis in my shoulders doesn't help matters either. I've tried using the polishing ball with my cordless drill but it doesn't get into the tight areas. I once heard that oven cleaner works. Any advice is welcome.
  • Try one of the detail shops in the area. The guys at Bulldog Buggy Bath on W Broad have polishing aluminum down to a fine art. Take a look at the Airstream trailers they have there. Give them a call and see if they will do the wheels for you. If not, shoot me a PM and I know some guys north of there on US29 that do detail work. That oven cleaner - read the label. :E will damage the aluminum wheels beyond repair
  • It paid to go into a truck stop and have a detailer who does wheels with rouge.
  • Got mine down to 1 hour per wheel. Try the smaller foam balls. Seal with carnuba wax when done and they will atay nice for almost 1 year.

    Pogoil.
  • I used the triangle shaped instead of the ball and went into tight places. No matter what, it's a long job.
  • Yes, oven cleaner will work fine. Just let it sit on there for about 20 minutes and be prepared to having to do some "elbow grease" no matter which method you choose. You can also use aluminum "brightener"

    WoodGlue
