Am I reading this right? (Receiver capacity)

I just saw this sticker on my new (to me) tow vehicle. Am I correct in assuming that with a weight distribution hitch, I can have a tongue weight of up to 1500lbs?

Weights:

TV:

GVWR 9200 lbs
GAWR FRT 4670 lbs
GAWR RR 6084 lbs

I'm confused about this since the Frt and RR numbers don't add up to the GVWR.

Dry Hitch Weight (lbs) 910

The dry weight on my new trailer (getting it tomorrow) is 910.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about with a trailer's dry weight at 910 pounds. That is almost nothing as trailers go. Use the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and then multiply by .15 and that will get you the approximate tongue weight. Or, maybe you left off a zero and the dry weight is 9100 pounds. That makes a difference.

Definitely replace the factory receiver, even if it isn't one of the issue hitches. Being a round tube model it will probably "wind up" (twist) when you latch the wd bars up on your new 32 with 1,300lbs+/- tw.

Concerning the loaded tw of your 32, obviously it will depend on just what you load in the pass through and under the queen bed.

We have in our pass through and under the bed:
Ez-Up hd model from Sams Club
Camp Chef Explorer 2 burner stove
Coleman Road Trip grill blue model
2-9x12 awning mats
Tub with fresh water hoses, 25'-30amp extension cord, and a 50'-14g ext cord, plus a few other items- couple hose splitters, power stirp, etc
X-Chocks
Ice Maker
4 Bag Chairs
Jayco Bumper Grill- Haven't decided where I want to store it, chances are will never use it.

May be missing something at the moment.

When I weighed we did not have any of the boys stuff in the bunk room (clothes, tv, few toys, etc), shelving I put in all the wardrobes, Jayco rear cargo hitch, bike rack, or bikes, all tanks were empty.

Trailer weight was 8,660lbs, tw was 1,400lbs. I know those weights have changed some, just didn't get a chance to weigh it since. We had just loaded the trailer for a short w/e trip after picking it up the night before, probably 99% of everything else (beside what I mentioned above) was loaded.

Good luck tmrw!!!

O.O

I'm going to see about getting it replaced in the morning.

Anyone not like Draw-Tite or have other recommendations?

Your axles are rated differently to allow you to put different weights in your vehicle. For example, a load of gravel over the rear axle will put all the weight there, maybe even unload the front. But then some people pull trailers, and put sizable boats up over the cab.... and that would load the front axle.

Rear axle weights are usually twice the tire capacity and are printed on the label when the truck went off the assembly line. Different tires and wheels would have a different rear axle rating.

I don't tow with water or anything in the tanks - at least, not much more than a token amount.

Well, I'm hoping that fully loaded with gear and propane and what-not that I wouldn't be adding that much tongue weight.. Is it possible that I might need to replace the receiver?

I would recommend less than 1,400 pounds, as the receiver and WD bars, ect will weigh in around 100 pounds.

You are probably going to be really close to 1400 pounds by the time you add water and camping gear, clothes, ect. Try not to put to much weight forward. .

Of course check it at a CAT scale, or like I did at a moving van company. With a 3/4 ton truck, you should have much more than 1,500 pounds of cargo rating.

Good luck,

Fred.

Yes, you are corrrect BUT that dry weight of 910lbs will most likely be north of 1300lbs when you are ready to go camping.

Correct, V5 rated hitch with wdh.

now go check the label on the driver door jam... for load capacity ..

tongue weight + cargo weight = total weight...
cargo weight is people/fuel/Stuff....

That rating is rated for the hitch receiver ONLY, not necessarily for your truck.

But yes, if you use a WDH with it, the receiver can handleup to1500lbs.

You need to check the truck's spec as far as how much hitch weight it can handle.
