An added bonus for us while at Assateague Statae park!

We are (not soon enough) going to Assateague Island State park in early June. We love that place and were lucky enough to get a site in the H-loop (the only one with electric). Not only are we now able to bring our pet..as an added bonus I just noted that there is a launch going off at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, during the time we are there. It is a 2 a.m. launch so I am sure we will see it perfectly from the beach at Assateague. The flight is to bring supplies to the space station. What a great trip to look forward to (especially after this loooong winter!) So excited:)

    Bummer!!
We didn't camp, but spent a week there during the Pony swim, a great fund raiser for the local Volunteer Fire Department.

Assateague is nice but the biting bugs can be bad. An onshore wind seems to be the best for camping with no bugs.
  • That launch has been canceled. We will be arriving tomorrow evening for the week and I was really disappointed to hear of the cancellation.
  • We used to take our boat from Ocean City south on the bay side, anchor, swim, and carry a picnic cooler over to the beach side. Fun to see the wild horses, but not so much the biting horse flies.

    It's a great area - enjoy!
  • Hi, We were there for three nights last week. It was our first time there. It is so beautiful. We were in the National Park on a huge site overlooking the bay. We enjoyed seeing the wild horses. The movie that is shown at the visitors center was very informative and interesting.Enjoy you stay there.
  • We have not been to Assateague for many years. Our kids were young and we loved it. We had a pop-up at the time, and first thing in the morning when I unzipped the end flap a pony was poking his nose right against the screen. Great memories - have a wonderful time.
