another season in the bag

Sigh. Just winterized this morning (freezing overnight temps may come by the end of the week). October always comes way too fast.

I take it you're not a winter Texan. Just come to south Tx, you'll be alright.

Our season is just starting. Cool at last!

    X2 :)
  • We winterized our rig last week. Idaho is a finicky place, so best to be sure.
Now, if the time arises, we're out of here pretty quickly. Most winter times, we don't have to worry about the refer being turned on for a couple days. That's my contribution to climate saving?
  • Some of the best camping is now until Thanksgiving. I like winter trips in the low desert. Sometimes I just leave the anti-freeze in place.

Yep! The best camping, is just just getting here! We will winterize and de-winterize, several times during the next 6 months. Headed-out in a few weeks for about 5 weeks of boondocking (deer/elk season). And when it gets cool....a few ice fishing trips! ;)
  • memtb,
Thanks for your post. I used to live in Laramie, and learned a lot about how to deal with cold conditions. Winters are long, but the snow was good. I joined an informal club of backcountry skiers. We went out in all kinds of weather including below zero. The local people were very skilled and we would just find heavy forest to hunker down in the Snowy Range. Build a fire. Afte living and working outdoors in Wyo everywhere else seems easy.
