Answering questions without knowing details?

Please help me understand...Maybe just me.

I do understand people posting questions that are vehicle specific. Posters leave out what model, brand or size out of their question.

But what I don't understand is how people can give answers without knowing more specifics.

Examples...
What oil should I run in my diesel?
I have duel axle trailer, what is the proper torque for lug nuts?
My weather stripping is bad, what type should I buy.
My awning is bad, how do I fix it?

How can anybody give a correct answer without knowing more details?
2003 Majestic 23P... Northwest travel machine
2013 Arctic Fox 25W... Wife "doll house" for longer snowbird trips
2001 "The Mighty Dodge"... tow vehicle for "doll house"

Posts are like a book... you need to read every page to get the whole gist of the story. Sometimes things change midway and folks just look at the original title.

Many times those details are in the original post. People don't always read them.

Some questions are generic and can be answered without specifics but the more information given the better the answer will be!!

Agreed,

A good question is half answered.

Missing element of a question only raises more questions than answers. Technical questions for the most part do require definite answers.

Unlike illusions as in magic and voodoo, tech based questions have answers that are based on science or accepted norms...not by magic potions or smoke and mirrors.

Dill pickle is a big old kosher dill weighing 5.3 OZ.

A half a chicken? :h

Sadly I think that is more true than most folks think and it even worse that it's obviously from reading some of the answers the responder could care less if he's either making sense or really has an inkling that what he is saying is true or not:(
