any towing a ford edge awd

Hi all, looking at buying a 2009 awd ford edge limited are they flat towable and if so any issues with the tranny, battery, or special procedure to follow?? Got spoiled towing my wrangler for the last 5 yrs.
  • Had a 2010 Edge. Only problem, a couple times wife didn't turn the key all the way back to accessory and drained battery.
The 13 Edge AWD tows well. Just have to get use to procedure to place it in accessory mode. Remember start engine to shift through gears every 800 miles or whenever you stop for five minutes or so.
No problems so far. If you forget to place the air conditioner vent into recirculate you will get dust etc into the cabin even with the environment filter. Carry an extra.
  • 2010 Edge no problems since new. Just choose bracket carefulley. Blue Ox just a tad high
  • We have towed our AWD 2008 Edge for over five years with no issues.
  • I am spoiled with my 2007 Ford Edge. I installed a roadmaster hitch on it when it was new. No problems yet. I installed a braking system with a used CC motor from a Nissan under the dash, the CC motor cable pulls on the brake pedal to the floor, and works great! I use vacuum from my RV to power the brakes and CC motor.

You can look up towing guides for many models of Fords, 2002 and newer, and then check the towing guide for the flat towing information. Hopefully the car you are buying will have the information inside the - in the owners manual.

    Good luck!
