Are we all on the darkside?

Afer reading several posts and doing an archive search I see so many folks referring to 'moving to the darkside'. This being, in reference to buying (i.e)a TC and moving to the "darkside", a class A and moving to the "darkside", a TT and moving to the "darkside", an HTT and moving to the "darkside", a Class B and moving to the "darkside". Is there no RV that I can purchase and not have to move to the darkside?? :h I enjoy living life in the light..

I too associate the term with Star Wars. There you had the light side (good, such as Luke Skywalker) and the dark side (evil, such as Darth Vader) Just like duct tape which has a light side and a dark side.
May the Force be with you.

Ya know, I may live on the DARK SIDE, but I don't care. I have met a lot of nice rv'ers over here and we all enjoy living over here. :B

Guess I'll have to cancel my Prevost order to get a Newell. Sure hope I get my $50.00 deposit back.
I won one in the Nigerian lottery I just need to send them $1.6 million for shipping and its mine 😉
If at first you don't succeed--don't try sky diving!!
I'd rather be camping

Yup, this is how I look at it. The HTT really is a lot lighter inside then a TT, not trying to be derogatory. Can't say I've ever used the darkside term, other then in this thread, to me sitting in a TT at the RV shows feels more like I've entered a cave. So far we've resisted, but some day we too will go, to the darkside.

I first heard the term used significantly when people were upgrading from tents and popups and HTT to RV's without any tenting (TT,5W, TH, CLASS C and A's). Always thought it was a reference to not having tenting any more which lets in more light than hard sided RV's.

Same here. We had a tent but did not move to the darkside when we got our first popup because that's basically a tent on a wheeled platform with conveniences. When we went from our 2nd popup to the first 5th wheel it was definitely going to the darkside because no light actually comes into the bedroom in the trailer with shades drawn. We also felt that it was changing from "camping" to "RVing".

darkside: Luxury RVing as opposed to "camping". Having a larger carbon footprint. Class A vs. anything without its own means of propulsion.

People on the HDT forum say the same thing when buying a HDT to pull their 5th wheel trailer. Welcome to the darkside. Well to me going from a pickup truck or just going to a HDT is seeing the light. Not going to the darkside.

"Pulled the trigger and bought the TV,RV,or...(?) Did they shoot the thing first and then buy a dead TV,RV or.... (????)
Being in the dark might be fun, maybe. Though "Looking on the bright side" seems
like a better idea.

Don't forget that before, "moving to the darkside," they have, "PULLED THE TRIGGER," when they bought whatever it is that is on the darkside.

Glad you said it.

I personally like "Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down". The dark side always had Star Wars conotations to me.
