In over 13 years of fulltiming, I might have heard the ultimate today.

In what is an unusual move for us given that we rarely do RV parks, we are in a small (31 site) park. Couple pull into the only site big enough for their 45'ish Prevost and their matching custom appointed 20'ish trailer. Their next door neighbor in a modest 28'ish TT just setting up remarked, "nice looking rig you have there".

Guy responds, (and this is verbatim), "Yeah well, if you've got the money, why not?" That was the extent of the "conversation".

Common attitudes and perceptions, today are more a result of TV and feelings of inferiority and superority.
Allways have been a divide between the wealthy and the poor in most, of society.
Many of the wealthiest people, I've been aquainted with were just like anyone else. you can't tell anything about their station in life by just talking with them. If someone tries to be superior, or arrogant, I just go the other way. Don't need be associated with them. Envy? I would like to have some big toys and things that money affords Being happy doesn't involve letting one or two, with the attitude, into our lives. Look the other way and go about breakfast with the gang and go have some fun.

I know multimillionaires that live in 80 year old homes that still have the same furniture they bought 40 years ago. They drive 10 year old vehicles and have never been on a plane. I even know one couple who would likely hit the billion dollar mark. They lived in about a 1500 square foot house built in the 60's and their RV was a 30 foot Alpenlite that they pulled with a Chevy SRW pickup. I think these people are nuts for not enjoying more of it. It seems if your rich, your gonna be an idiot in somebody's eyes no matter what you do.

We winter will some on our street that have MH's and anything else is just not good enough but we like what we have. Ya never laugh at another persons home or rv because that is their home. Rude never works.

Most rv'rs are not rude.

I guess I didn't gather from the OP that he was upset; just that this guy was arrogant.

I didn't have any problem with his comment either. Some people have a different way of communicating and sometimes we all hear something different than was intended by the person sharing.

What truly disappoints me are the comments by people that show their own rude behavior towards others. My mother would be ashamed to hear say comments like this about other people.

One of these days, somebody's going to shut his pie hole for him. Hope somebody gets pictures of him crying like the little baby he is.

I wonder what the real conversation went like. That might be a perfectly legit response to something like " You could feed a 10,000 starving children for what that rig cost, but if you are going to waste more money than most people make in a lifetime, don't have a problem polluting the environment and consuming more than your share of our precious resources it is a "nice looking rig you have there"". Things are seldom as simple and clear cut as they seem.

If this guy is about sixty-or-more but obviously trying to look a lot younger AND accompanied by a Barbiedoll type young enough to be his granddaughter I might be able to explain his evident dislike of small trailers.

And the guy is maybe 5 foot and combs what is left of hair in to a rats nest, rides with an air-head, and back home there is nothing worth talking about.

I call then petty little men.

Years ago we moved from Houston Texas to the Seattle area. Not knowing any better we rented a house on Mercer Island. The rental was priced competitively and Mercer Island is convenient to both Seattle and Bellevue. Things were fine until we’d leave the island and talk to people wile going about our day. Invariably we’d have a friendly conversation until they asked where we lived and we’d say Mercer Island, then you’d see this look of anger in their eyes and their small jealous minds begin to work, you could almost read their minds “Oh so you live on Mercer Island, you arrogant snob! Well I’ll show you, I’ll just be a snob right back atcha!” and the previously friendly conversation would go downhill from there. Ten years later we were having a garage sale at out little 3br 1car garage home in Naperville IL and my wife got into a conversation with a lady who’d just moved to Naperville from Seattle, Gail mentioned Mercer Island and it happened all over again! The thing is no matter what you do or how nice you are small minds will find ways to be offended.

I get my digs in first with the tag axel crowd. First question goes something like "Hey where do you drive to keep that thing so clean?" Dirt does not seem to dare fall on them.

Anything to get an equally snide answer back usually is the start of a long getting to know you evening.

So, was the woman good looking or not?

Never got a look at her, if there even IS a her.

Given that HE is about 5'9 - 10" and about 250 lbs, who knows about she?
And before the trolls come out of the woodwork, I don't care about that either! I lied.
