Maybe it has to do with not wanting to incur all that debt, not being limited to parking lot type RV parks, but instead being able to camp in State Park and National Forest campground. Perhaps not wanting ALL the comforts of home with you.

That's why we have downsized to a pop-up truck camper. We can get into small rustic campgrounds; and since we can park in a "normal" parking space, we're able to visit places most RV's are too tall/long to get into. It's perfect for our sightseeing trips - would NOT be good for Snowbirding (a bit too "spartan")

Or a tent for that matter.
Somewhat agree, but weather CAN take the FUN out fast...
I say NO! Although I would not want to go back to a tent today, some of our fondest camping memories were made back in our tenting days. ๐Ÿ™‚
40 years ago, good times tenting. Mid-60's no interest..
For the past ten years it has been a 24' TT for us. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fifth wheel fan here. Need the head room at 5"9" ๐Ÿ˜„

According to a "guru" I follow regularly (he actually called this) we will see more of this. Basically he thinks the rich will be buying less and we are heading into deflation.

Pros for RVs:
- Low gas
- Retiring Boomers

Cons for RVs:
- Healthcare is out of whack
- Prices for stays are increasing
- Quality is not great

Seems natural to me. Almost daily we hear about the shrinking middle class, and low/no wage growth. People still want to recreate and are finding a way to do it. Buying the RV may be the major expense, but factoring in sales & excise tax, equipping it, insurance & maintenance, fuel mileage, storage and of course campground fees need to be considered. Is the FUN quotient incrementally higher in a 40' DP than it is in a 30' trailer or 5th wheel ???
