I've used "Liquid Stitch" to glue my woven acrylic Care Free awning. Worked great and is waterproof and permanent. Drys clear also. Liquid Stitch is available in the sewing area of many stores. I got mine in Walmart a few years ago.
Note: Liquid Stitch will NOT work on vinyl awning material.
Should memory serve me correctly, Magna-Tex, is a more potent version of the same formulation as Dritz's Liquid Stitch. Or use Lineco Inc. Neutral pH White Adhesive, a pecialty glue which dries clear. I've never used glue as more than a temporary hold on high stress textiles which in plain English, means I thread stitch over the glued area. The Lineco product is specifically made for book binding and won't change colours once it's set enough to become clear.
HTH.
