Back to Zion woo hoo!
Zion National Park is my favorite place on planet earth. We have been 4 times but not for the last 3 years due to the near impossibility of a actually gettin a site inside the park in the Watchman CG. I frequently surf the internet looking for openings and last week I scored! I am guessing that I stumbled on this site right after someone had canceled but will never know
Got Monday through Friday In B005 of Watchman, almost on the Virgin River. This site is a very short walk to the visitor center and the tram station giving us unlimited access to the entire park. The long range forecast is predicting temps between 50 - 60 for the highs with the lows in the lower 40's. Being early march the crowds should be about as small as they get.
We have been to the park in late September twice {ideal}, June - hotter than blazes, Thanksgiving - froze our butts off so this trip is shaping up nicely. We will just take our 24' Nexus class C and leave the cargo trailer and toys at home. Since moving up to Payson north of Phoenix our ride to Zion is just 6 hours on some awesome scenic roads.
Should the temps start dropping we have no worries as our coach has a 35,000 BTU furnace and is very well insulated. Actually a dusting of snow would be fun... we got 6"+ two days ago here in Payson.
I also secured 4 days at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood for the first week in May which is another very hard park to get into until all of the snowbirds go home. For that run we will bring my Can Am Spyder in the cargo trailer so we can explore Sedona and Jerome again. lots of great riding throughout the area. Now if I can just complete the hat trick and come up with a nice spot for April our season will be off to a great start.
