Another vote for the Trekker by Eaz-Lift...I really like mine. Same basic design as The Equalizer, but has pads on the trailer brackets that greatly reduce the noise. The trailer brackets also have built-in hinges with 'fingers' on them that help grab and lift the WD bars into place, making bar placement very easy. I had the chain type and moved to the Trekker, and have been extremely pleased.

Also a look at Trekker might be worthwhile. One thing I like about mine is the sway control can be easily disengaged. May be the same with the others but I donโ€™t know.

I have a Blue ox (chains).

Id suggest getting an Equalizer (bars) and not look back.

Thank you for the responses so far! My trailer is 27โ€™ and gross weight about 7500 lbs. I tow it with a 96 dodge 2500. If there is a hitch with sway and wd built into one (bars seem easy to me) thatโ€™s what I would like. I will look at the previously mentioned brands.

I would not focus on bars vs. chains. The Equalizer 4-pt and Reese Strait Line are similarly effective and use opposing designs. Get a WDH with integrated sway control. Either of the two I listed above are good. So is the Blue Ox Swaypro and Anderson.

I didn't like the chains. Equal-i-zer here, and I love it. Was noisy the first two years or so, then became completely quiet.

I had used the chain type with sway bar up until 2 weeks ago and bought a Husky center-line, best purchase ever! no sway at all.

I used the chain type for over 40 years which worked well but the 4 point Equalizer-er works much better. It is the best hitch that I have used EVER.
Been using the bar type for the last 10 uears

I have had both types. I find the Equal-i-zer branded hitch much better. I also found if the bars are square to the L brackets the noise is greatly reduced. Also - you don't have to take the sway bar addon off when backing up. Much better.

Had both types. Both worked great. I feel bars are easier and faster to hitch up. My opinion only.

Had both....both worked well. The key is getting either set up and dialed in correctly.
I prefer chains...they are quieter. The Equal-i-zer we had on a previous trailer scared my wife - it squealed and screamed on tight turns and backing up.

You'll get all kinds of responses to that question, as members here have many different types and brands. What size of trailer do you have?

Equalizer is a common one, they have bars. You'll also see Blue Ox, which has chains. Both have built-in sway control. On the other hand, my trailer, which is being traded, had the basic L-shaped bars that connect to the frame with chains, and an anti-sway bar. It served me well for six years.

My new trailer (8250 GVWR) will come with a Husky Center-Line, which uses bars.

I look forward to seeing what others say.
