I have this Bauer entry door lock:
The bottom lock is the deadbolt and is the only one we use. It has worked well for years, but today neither of the two original keys open the door. The key is inserted at 12:00, will turn freely back to 9:00, but will not turn at all past 12:00 to get to 3:00 which I seem to remember opens the lock. I have tried graphite key oil, but it did not help.
This is a fifth wheel so I can open the storage compartment and laundry lid on the step to see the lock as shown below:
Unfortunately (I guess), I do not have a small child to send in there. None of my neighbors or friends have one and I don't know where to Rent-a-Kid. ๐
Unless you have any other ideas, my next plan was to make a stick with a hammer head type weight on the end to start knocking the turn lever down a bit. Once it has gone a little ways, I should be able to put the end of the stick on it and push toward the door jamb to unlock.
I am very fortunate I am at home when this happened and as usual I can use a fun project/game like this. If this doesn't work, I could break the door glass and have an excuse to order one of those clear glasses that everyone likes. I see the door hinges are exposed on the outside, but it does not look like a freely sliding pin that could be knocked out.
Once I get in, assuming I have not destroyed the lock, I am only going to use the upper, non-deadbolt lock.

When I disassembled it, I saw what had happened. The deadbolt rotor had a tensioner/clunk position indicator washer fixed to the rotor. Normally small bumps on the washer would just clunk into the slots around the plate hole. But the washer broke and pushed the washer pieces up into the slots locking the rotor. I completely removed the washer and the lock now works fine, just without the usual tension and clunk position indication.
Nice tool!! It is not a good felling not being able to get into your RV. I was camping when it happen to me. Luckily I keep a cordless drill and bits in my storage compartment. My storage compartment key is always on the same key chain as my door key. I had a couple of spare cylinders with the keys in my tool box so I was able to change the deadbolt cylinder with a new one. Check out the fastecindustrial.com website they have a list of all the recalled key #'s. My Evergreen Everlite key was on the list.They sent me new cylinders with the special key. My key # on my new camper (the one I got locked out of} was not on the list but after I talked to them they sent me the cylinders with keys and the special key to slide out the bad cylinder and put in the new ones. Takes only a few minutes. Good Luck!
