Blind repair...

On mine, the holes through the aluminum were very rough, so I deburred them. On the other side where the bushings went, I glued them in place with thin CA (crazy glue).

Instead of the stringing tool, I stretched the last 3-4" of string to make it straight, then dribbled some of the same glue on the end. Made t stiff and easy to thread.

I did buy a kit, but all I used was the string.

Not sure if Spectra/spiderwire has the right texture for the blinds to operate properly. It's also fussy about the knots you use.

What causes the problems is a sailors worst problem. Chafe. Rubbing on sharp corners will do you in every time.

Depending on the vintage of your blind there was a manfacturing defect in the installation of the grommets. Fixmyblinds.com has everything needed to repair them far better than new. Once you have done one the rest are easy. Make sure you buy the string install tool!

Best fix? Replace with Mini Blinds. :B

Hardest part is usually getting them down and back up. The stringing is easy.

Do a search on Dirty Blind Man repair kit. These have the other parts you might need besides the string.

Just repaired one of ours, bought the cord from fixmyblinds. What caused ours to fail was 2 of the plastic guides had popped out so the cord rubbed on the metal.
