Blue Ox Sway Pro, Anderson or Equalizier ?

The title pretty much ask the question. Between the three, which would you choose? Not looking at Hensley or Pull Rite, just want to compare these three. Am looking at acquiring a TT around the 30ft area, towing with a Cummins 5.9 CTR single wheel.

Five years with the Equal-I-zer brand hitch with no issues. Like it, and would buy another!

I had a Reese Dual Cam on my last TT and now a Blue Ox. Blue Ox is very quiet, almost grease free, easy to hitch-up and and Made in USA.

The Reese Dual Cam did a great job, but I like the Blue Ox better.

With that truck I'd go Andersen. You won't need to transfer hardly any weight back to the front. The Andersen has a hard time transferring heavy TW with 1/2 ton trucks. Not your case. I used one for a short period of time before we got our 5th wheel. I had a 31' TT @7300lbs. I used a 12 Ram 2500 CTD. It did everything as advertised. Smoother ride and no sway. I had previously used an EQ and was looking to get away from the bouncy ride, noise and grease.

I'm going with the Andersen.

While it may not get you back to 100% restored front axle weight it will get you back within WD recommended specs on front end rise.

Anderson's approach seems to embrace the "Looks level to me" philosophy. As long as the handling is good on the end and the Rig looks relatively level then the Andersen is doing its job.

The real beauty with the Andersen is its weight and ability to control bounce. I would recommend calling Andersen and ask them directly, they told me straight up that it's not as good at dialing in WD as a spring bar hitch, but really shines for it its other performance characteristics.

thanks!

Price wise, I think they are all about the same.

In order of cleanliness (cleanest first) for the person hitching up, or sliding the hitch into the receiver:

1. Andersen -- Uses no lubrication, anywhere.

2. BlueOx -- Hitch head is lubricated internally (with a grease gun) and the ball is lubricated externally. The bars snap into sockets on the hitch head.

3. Equalizer --- All lubrication (bar ends and ball) is external.

In order of noise (quietest first):

1. Andersen and BlueOx, IMHO, are pretty much the same.

2. Equalizer has a little squeaking and groaning during turns and backing.

Front axle weight restoration, first one best:

1. BlueOx and Equalizer --- Pretty much the same

2. Andersen -- Is a little soft, compared to the others. Some users have reported, it doesn't restore enough. I have one (I also have a BlueOx). Andersen doesn't restore as much weight as the BlueOx, however, it does meet the restoration specs for my tow vehicle. Some tow vehicles require 100 percent of weight restoration, some require as little as 50 percent.

In order of hitch weight (lightest to heaviest, including bars and snap up brackets, or Andersen chains and trailer frame parts):

1. Andersen -- 60 lbs

2. Equalizer -- Approximately 95 lbs

3. BlueOx -- 108 lbs

I prefer to use the Andersen because it is quieter, lighter (While on a road trip, last summer, I had the misfortune of testing the sharpness of my knife. The rest of the trip, I had to do the hitching and unhitching with one hand. That included putting the hitch into the receiver), and cleaner (If I wanted to put it in the back seat, I could clean up afterward, with a vaccum cleaner. No grease spots).

Another Reese Dual Cam. Towed many miles and no problem. It is a well proven design and not too costly.
