I'm betting the nephew is tongue light and he won't be able to set up the new hitch either.
I told him that this could be a possibility. He just bought a house a few blocks from the local cheese factory with a scale that is open to the public. I'm gonna have to help him getg all sorts of weights and do some math. - 73gunaExplorerWell amazon suddenly went up to $599.
I must have had it in my cart too long and they jacked the price up. :(
Ebay for $549. - lots2seeinmyrvExplorerBought ours at PPL. Love it, easy to use and quiet.

- irishtom29ExplorerI find the Blue Ox simple and easy to hitch up and adjust. It's a little easier to use with an 18 or 21" breaker bar rather than the supplied wrench. In any event it's very easy to use for anyone with a minimum of mechanical aptitude and strength.
My trailer is properly set up and never sways; I doubt it would sway with any hitch, claimed sway control or not. - Dog_TrainerExplorerI love my Blue Ox pro I can't imagine why it would be too hard to adjust. I tow 9,000 lbs at the speed limit and no sway what so ever, ever. I have about 14,000 miles towing with it at this point. I paid $400. for mine refurbished from the factory.

My nephew just sent his back. He thought he had thew world by the balls when he ordered it. He did nothing but complain all last summer about it trying to figure out why his trailer would sway all over the place. He even went as far as adding air bags to his truck. I told him there was no way his trailer could be swaying like that with his setup until I rode with him and felt it for myself. He has a 2015 34 foot Hemisphere light model of some sort, and a 2012 F250 powerstroke. I cant recall what he is getting to replace it but he sounded pretty happy to be rid of the blue ox.
First time I've heard of anyone having this kind of a problem. Maybe it wasn't set up properly?
Regardless, if one is not happy, or has concerns about a particular hitch or setup, it's best to change. There would have always been some doubt in his mind.
I love my Blue Ox Sway Pro. I think your Amazon price is the cheapest I've seen. Is the Amazon price including shipping and tax? Sometimes they do charge tax. I bought mine from e-Trailer. Free shipping, no tax.
EDIT: I just checked Amazon and the cheapest I saw was $574 shipped (and no tax). Hope you bought the one you saw.
Mike - 73gunaExplorerThats the first negative thing Ive heard about the blue ox.
I had it narrowed down between the ox and equalizer.
We have the equalizer now and it pops and creeks too much for my liking.
Cant rmember where, but I found an equalizer for $450. - GoostoffExplorerI think this is the one my nephew said he ordered. He said something about having to raise the trailer up to get the bars in place and then let it down to put the weight on the,. I do remember him saying there were no chains.
