Boycott “No Campfires”

We RVers need to Boycott places that don’t allow a special part of the camping experience...”campfires”. It’s bad enough that so many places don’t allow wood fires but not allowing propane campfires is beyond ridiculous.

We carry in our RV a variety of equipment and supplies for a campfire and it’s so disappointing to not be able to use them and enjoy that experience.

I own a small RV park and when we are in a burning ban I have had people cancel their reservation...”Really, we can’t have a campfire?...we will book another time”

I will not book anymore places that don’t allow a campfire.

Not so much hate them.....it's just there are MORE & More inept campers that do NOT know how to have a campfire.
They think smoldering/smokey is good vs an actual fire
And then they go inside!

YEAH.CGs with NO Campfires.

Our local schools and surrounding highways are closed today because of wild fires. Lots of friends have been evacuated and the first homes began to burn down this morning.

I don't have a problem with legitimate burn bans.

Try Warren Dunes SP in Michigan. It sits nestled in between wooded dunes, and if there's no wind, it looks like Beijing on a smog alert day.

Campgrounds that are so full of smoke they look like a fogbank? Where the hell are some of you folks camping?

This has happened multiple times to me, in tighter-knit campgrounds on nights with little-to-no wind.

A "right" to have a fire? LOL! No, it's not a right, it's a privilege.

I guess this explains the recent trend of putting electric fireplaces under the 60 inch TV in RVs lately. I thought it was silly, but maybe the manufacturers were onto something.

California's have plenty of campfires going right now. I don't think they are enjoying them very much.

I would think it would be better for a campground to have one communal bonfire of a evening away from the RV'S instead of a fire at each site.

I'm sure the OP can build and maintain a decent camp fire and not smoke out the whole loop! I too love a good camp fire with the family sitting around it and enjoying the experience. Been doing that since I was a kid back in the late '60's..

Problem is, the majority of "campers" these days don't have a clue how to build and maintain a decent camp fire... 😉

At least the ones that always seem to be around me! ha, ha!

It's mostly just luck of the draw of where the wind is blowing and who you have camping next to you, and of course, every single fire is going to expel 'smoke', but I do have to agree with the other's that when you throw your trash in the fire pit and then light it up and oh yeah, that smell is just awesome for your neighbors!! Thank you for doing that fellow camper!

Anyway, a no win situation for sure...

I don't understand the no propane fires... Even with burn bans, in our WA State parks, you can use your propane fire pit.. You can't burn a charcoal BBQ, but you can use propane even with a full on burn ban going on..

Oh well, I love my camp fire too, but in the end, you just gotta do what you gotta do..

x2. I have always enjoyed campfires, but as fewer and fewer campers know HOW to have a campfire, it pretty much ruins it. A campground that looks like a fogbank just ain't gettin' it.
