Bummer of a summer

In May we traded our 2005 fourwinds C for a 2006 Winnebago Sightseer. Got to camp in it 3 nights before a sudden flash flood totaled our Rv and about 40 others and several cars. Thank God had good insurance and soon bought a replacement a 2006 coachman concord . We knew it would be 3 weeks before it would be ready which was ok because we were waiting for our insurance. While doing a final walk through on the day we were suppose to pick it up the microwave wouldn't work. They had to send it off and it was another 3 weeks to get it fixed. Finally got it back last week. Planned to move it to the river lot we rented for the few days left of summer. Today my husband was mowing and threw a rock against the huge back window and broke it. Taking it Monday to get it measured for a new window which will take 2 weeks to arrive. Trying to have a sense of humor. We are too blessed to really complain. He says he is not going to file an insurance claim. Just going to pay for it. We have joked not sure if we want to go on the long trip we have planned in Sep. to New York and on into Maine.

My husband is Happy Happy Happy. Our new window is only $160 and will be ready in 2 weeks.

We had to have one of our windshield windows taken out and reset. We found out the one RV dealership had a particular glass company come to their lot and do any window replacing they had. We called the company, made an appointment, dropped the motorhome off in the late morning and picked it up that afternoon. Excellent job and a lot less expensive than we expected. I can imagine it would have been a lot more if the glass had to be replaced, but its worth checking out the price for the window and see if you could have it shipped to a glass company that would set it for you.

We live a 100 miles from the dealership. We left the Rv thinking it would only be a few days before the microwave was fixed. WRONG! Still working on getting the window fixed. Tried to get a replacement from coachmen . It is no longer made. Taking it back to the auto glass shop on Thursday to measure . They said will have to make a pattern. It is a large cathedral style. Not sure what it will cost. It's got to be done. I have a trip to go on. My poor husband is strangely quiet on the issue. Know for sure will make some kind of cover when stored in the open ended carport.

Sorry to hear of all the stuff that's happened to your rig(s) this summer... But, I wouldn't have let the lack of a microwave keep me at home... ๐Ÿ˜‰ If anything, I would have gone to WM and bought a cheapie one if it was needed that bad...

For the window, you can go to a automotive glass place and get a clear vinyl piece to temporarily take the glass's place.. If it's a very large opening, you could use some wood dowels or something as braces..

Anyway, I hope you are able to get a few more camping trips in this year!

Good luck!

A bummer? Maybe some bad luck, but it sounds like you've found a way to "roll with it" and still have a positive attitude.

Bet that will serve you guys well and make for quite the enjoyable adventure when you hit the road!
