Buy new now or wait until end of summer

I understand that this is a very subjective question but I thought maybe some of you might be willing to share ideas. We are looking at for a smaller rig than the Winnie, it seems that as with exam gloves and other ppds, the stocks of new and used RVs are low and prices are rising.

Finding a camp site today hasn't in my memory been harder, at most CGs near attractions and bigger cities. Camping made isolation easier. Now that things are loosening and some folks are out more, I think it is going to cause more crowds wanting to travel. However, I think many will find it easier to return to the mote/hotel travel rather than mess with the whole RV set up/breakdown routines and slowly fade from the RV life.

We're thinking maybe using the Winnie this season and buying later in the year could be a good idea. Your thoughts are welcome.

$3.57 gal with GS discount at FLYING J. That will take the travel out of newbies. That wasn't the highest I paid in the last two weeks.

I'd suggest sell now and buy later, in line with previous comments. Certainly pricing will decrease as the season ends, and demand should level of as people travel internationally via plane again.

I do believe a certain segment that is be to RVing will stay hooked and that will be constant (maybe share) growth for the industry. Plus all the #Vanlife lovers will age in the coming years and upsize, and that group will supersize into rolling houses.... so to speak.

IMO by mid-Summer the Covid-inspired buyers will be selling what they bought and those that didn’t buy won’t be looking. So, I’d wait.

The country is beginning to open up again, despite the advisements the CDC is putting out about a surge in COVID this summer. Numbers right now say that is wrong. I believe we are going to have a surge in people selling RVs, boats, motorcycles and similar items since so many were bought in order to let people get out and still remain somewhat alone

Here's a good video with some dealer insights. My thoughts are that this boom is going to last several more years and I doubt the amount of used RV's that will flood the market will have an impact on pricing.
MSRP's will never drop. How much of a discount you can get SHOULD drop in a year or two. Getting a good price on what you want to buy will depend on how popular that brand is and how many are in supply.
I see some lots with a fair amoun of trailers. But they're not the better brands and models. More lower end that mid to upper end.

Having checked my crystal ball I see lots of used RV's for sale at the end of this season and many for after next season. People who jumped on the RV bandwagon will find that it's not the fairy tale existence that the promotions indicated and will want to sell and get out.
The ball might be a little dirty not having used it in awhile.

Here in the South East the dealer lots have a good selection. The prices are higher of-course. I've been to three places this week in Alabama and they all had a number of trailers ready to go of all sizes. Most of the smaller 5th wheel toy haulers I like are out west though. I have noticed the trailers feel lighter made, much more flimsy these days.

I don't see prices dropping soon, lots of folks retiring early around here and wanting to get out and travel.

I want to downsize more to around 30' or so, not many of those available in a toy hauler! I may have to order something new. I'm ready for a change, minimal slides or none, much shorter length to open up more rustic and older NF campgrounds. I don't enjoy being limited by a 44' long triple axle anymore.
