Perhaps this shouldn't be your first pick for a place to camp!
Apparently this is not the first complaint either. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Couple camping in California receives disturbing threat
A local couple thought they had found just what they were looking for in Colfax, but soon after they unpacked here on Easter weekend, their storybook stay at the Bear River Campground felt more like the storyline in a horror film.....

"As a husband and father, you read something like that, and it's the stuff nightmares are made of, so we take it very seriously," said Andy Fisher, Placer County Parks administrator.Placer County Parks

Why wouldn't they have contacted police after a threat like that? This story sounds fishy.

out of curiosity, does this area have "stand your ground" in effect?
of course, convincing the judge, "but your honor, he had a daisy pump BB gun", might be in question.

My concealed gun would give me additional confidence that my wife and I would be able to LEAVE immediately. The fact that I could have used my gun to "settle the argument" is NOT why I carry.

How did this go from "why wait so long and not report to the local authorities" to "I am Woman, Hear me Roar, I don't need no protection from no 'man' " :R

Some people really need protected from themselves.

Thank you very much Mike for understanding the woman's perspective on this one.

I am usually 'prepared' for potential situations, but accepting the story at face value, if this had happened to me, and my wife, despite my being 'prepared', I would have called the cops, packed up and moved on. Given them my cell phone for them to call me and I will return.

I think toedtoes puts it in proper perspective.. why wait around for the potential possibility, even if the man in the situation (BF in this case) was carrying. Best to try to avoid escalation if possible, because you cannot predict the outcome. And I would never be able to live with myself if I decided to 'be a man', and stand up to x number of hoodlums, who gave me advance warning, and I got smacked in the back of the head with a shovel and then they carried out their threat.

Im quite sure my wife would call the shots on what our next move was going to be, and Im POSITIVE it would not include hanging around this place.

Aren't boyfriends supposed to protect their girlfriends? Shouldn't the discussion have been way more focused on what HE SHOULD HAVE DONE? Maybe the same actions as discussed ... but from the boyfriend's position.

Exactly!!!

... And he should be prepared to adequately defend both himself and his girlfriend. Frankly, a group of boys with BB guns threatening anything is a bit of a joke. Assuming open carry is legal in the jurisdiction a simple transition from concealed to open carry would have put a stop to their fantasies.
