It's very he said, she said as currently reported.Not quite understanding why a report was filed in the communal bathroom as opposed to the campsite's office or rangers. I'll wait until a police report is filed to think more on this.

Sad to hear of events like this, but you will whenever thugs feel safe. There are two ladies in south Florida, a restaurant owner and my own family who all have felt a little safer because I had a "friend" along. I know this was Cali, and their attitudes there, but this is what you invite and the sad thing is that as you go farther outside the towns into more rustic country, LEO's are farther and farther away.

And that she had time to write out a written complaint and leave it at the restrooms (plural) sounds like they weren't "afraid for their lives" as such. Sounds like an altercation between campers and a bit of exaggeration afterwards. While I don't doubt the group of guys were likely being offensive and obnoxious, I'm not sure I get the whole "I'm afraid they're going to come find me" - if you were afraid of that, why post it on facebook?Can we not get into the gun issue with this?

Am I missing something here? It does appear that Placer Co, S.O. notified and responded. However, what I see as missing is the timeline of the event/ It appears that some time elapsed between when the vent occurred and when the SO was notified. Beginning to look a little suspicious the more I think about it. Obviously didn't notify LE right away or they would have had a handle on the "bad guys".

My concealed gun would give me additional confidence that my wife and I would be able to LEAVE immediately. The fact that I could have used my gun to "settle the argument" is NOT why I carry.

I am usually 'prepared' for potential situations, but accepting the story at face value, if this had happened to me, and my wife, despite my being 'prepared', I would have called the cops, packed up and moved on. Given them my cell phone for them to call me and I will return.

I think toedtoes puts it in proper perspective.. why wait around for the potential possibility, even if the man in the situation (BF in this case) was carrying. Best to try to avoid escalation if possible, because you cannot predict the outcome. And I would never be able to live with myself if I decided to 'be a man', and stand up to x number of hoodlums, who gave me advance warning, and I got smacked in the back of the head with a shovel and then they carried out their threat.

Im quite sure my wife would call the shots on what our next move was going to be, and Im POSITIVE it would not include hanging around this place.

... And he should be prepared to adequately defend both himself and his girlfriend. Frankly, a group of boys with BB guns threatening anything is a bit of a joke. Assuming open carry is legal in the jurisdiction a simple transition from concealed to open carry would have put a stop to their fantasies.
