Canadian trailers and built in gennys

I'm in the Toronto area and I'm looking for a used travel trailer with a built in Genny. It seems that they are few and far between in Canada. in my search, the only one I have found with a built in genny had been imported from The US. I have looked for used trailers online in the US and it seems a lot more common to have a genny in the US. I'm not saying there are no Canadian trailers with gennys, or that all Us trailers have gennys, they just seem much less common in Canada. I'm thinking it may be because of emissions or other problems with having them in Canada?
Does anyone have any insight into this?

    Good point.

Hey. So do we. Cool. Agreed. Not really common in trailers. Nash also has a generator cabinet but they are built in Oregon.

  • Some of the Bigfoot trailers are available with a generator. Must be specified at time if manufacturer. They are built in Armstrong BC.

Trailers built in Canada are few and far between ... Taylor Coach would be a rare exception.
  • Genny's in toyhaulers is common cause we have on board fuel cells with hose fillers similar to gas station pumps. Mine holds 25 gallons and feeds the genny and can be used to fill atv's and whatever. My Onan 4000k Micro Quiet genny at half capacity will use 1 gallon for every 3 hours of use, air temp average around 85. Boost the air temp to 100 or above and its now 1 Gallon per hour of use, say when using the AC.

Having a generator is #1 accessory for us when camping. Many use solar, i prefer the genny.
  • Not many regular TT and 5ers offer a built in genny that I can think of, now when one gets into the toy haulers I think all except for the smallest TT/5er do offer a built in genny.

Why you are having trouble finding one in Canada or Canadian made I have on answer for you.

Hope you find what you are looking for soon.
  • Very few trailers have gennies in the US. I don't think I've seen one. A fifth wheel, maybe.
