Carbon monoxide detectors are problematic. On the one hand, safer for you if it issues false alarms than remains silent too long. But they can be annoying.
Most of them are combo CO/propane detectors, which can be set off not only by propane leaks but also by dog farts, sewer gas, hairspray fumes, etc. Most of those are not especially dangerous (except for the farts).
To be sure, when one does go off, you do need to check for the source of the alarm, rather than just going back to sleep.
